Summary:
Introduction: The secret files about
artists at the Swiss Political Police.
PART 1: PRODUCTION-BACKGROUND
- Eviction of the "Needle Park"
in Zurich
- The Wohlgroth-Squat
- Coincidences: Special prison
for junkies named after BLUTGEIL-Production company, fictious Special
Drug Squad becoming reality during editing.
PART 2: THE PLANNED FIRST SCREENING
- 1st screening scheduled for Nov
26. 1993 at Wohlgroth Squat
- Hysteria about eviction
- 4 copies of BLUTGEIL sent
to local newspapers. One titles "Wohlgroth squatters reveal their faces"
and pass their copy further to the police.
- "James Bond-Eviction" of
the Wohlgroth 3 days before 1st screening, only 2 squatters found.
- Feared riots actually happen.
Bygoer gravily hurt. Police can't prevent damage at shops
and cars.
PART 3: THE RAID
- Political Police gets engaged
to schedule BLUTGEIL-raid for Monday Nov. 29th concearning gravely bodily
injury and illegal portrayal of violence.
- First raid in the wrong house
at a respectable family - incl. confiscation of a bag of childbooks.
- Raid by about 40 policemen armed
with submachineguns, rubber-bullet-guns, nervegas - and handicams.
- Video-war: Political Police
films raid with same cameras BLUTGEIL was shot, and their video starts
exactly where BLUTGEIL ended.
- All-around-confiscation
of cultural works (books, records, music-videos, comics, etc) and other
stuff e.g. Frank Zappa's film "200 Motels", private letters, adressbook,
etc.
PART 4: THE MEDIA
- How to turn bad press into
good press by repeatedly spreading the facts how ridiculously the political
police actually do their job.
PART 5: UNCLE
BRUNO
- Police speaker Bruno Kistler
shows minor schoolboys and -girls BLUTGEIL in his office, denies everything
- and gets off free, while makers face 4-month-charges.
PART 6: THE TRIALS
- District attorney Jürg
Boll wants makers go to jail.
- Nov 23rd 1994, exactly
one year after the Wohlgroth-eviction, trial before city-court.
Police joins happening with special black shock-troops, rubbing
their clubs and searching people for bomb as featured in BLUTGEIL.
- Court rules makers "not guilty".
- Still one of them looses job
and gets effective professional ban.
- State's attorney lodges appeal.
- Zurich Supreme Court rules BLUTGEIL
"guilty" Sept 6th 1995: "Culture
must be positive!"
